Paisley congratulates police over drugs swoop.
The PSNI under Dessie Adair and the Serious Organised Crime Squad need to be thoroughly congratulated for the excellent work that has been done over the past 24 hours with the seizure of significant amo9unts of drugs and ill-gotten gains as a result of drug dealing.
The seizure and series of arrests will at the very least prevent hundreds of lives being ruined by the scourge of drugs. I trust that the arrests will lead to numerous convictions and the Mr Bigs who appear to be untouchables in this drugs war will be identified and jailed.
On the local front the nature and extent of the drugs find puts to bed forever the myth of certain localities being the so-called “drugs capital” of Northern Ireland. The fact of the matter is that Northern Ireland is being used as a location for both drugs smuggling and for drug sales. That it is not just about one or two towns that have a problem it is about time those with petty points to score recognised that dealing with this as a local issue will never rid the province of the inflow of drugs without the type of successes we have witnessed today.
